About SETCOM

The project intends to build up and promote 10 communities from 10 European countries as pioneers for sustainable energy use in tourism busines

SETCOM has the three following main targets:

  1. Raising awareness of substantial energy topics among tourism companies, local administration and tourists within the participating communities

  2. Raising awareness for the topic ‘sustainable energy tourism’ Europe wide.

  3. Setting up energy action plans for the participating communities with the definition of a clear and realistic way to more energy efficiency, less GEG-emission and less energy consumption in their leading business: the tourism industry.

The structure of the project and the geographical scope of the partners ensure the transferability of the results throughout Europe.

Target groups of SETCOM

The project intends to reach stakeholders from different target groups. According to the mechanism for reaching the aim of sustainable tourism, these are Europe-wide actors in the field tourism-energy and sustainable regional development, EU officials, interested people from science and governments and all other stakeholders.

These target groups are divided in different action lines, those are:

Economy:

Tourism associations, Tourism companies (tour operators, hotels, restaurants, spas and baths, recreational facilities, transport companies and related sectors), ESCOs, Installers, Construction firms, farmers, agri-business, investors and developers, counsellors

Administration: Decision makers in administration and politics, regional planning administration

Population: Tourists, Employees of tourism industry, general public

The designated target groups will all be involved in the project and approached in different ways.
